Remix JAM Sessions Life of Jesus Teacher Guide

This unit covers the years of ministry in the Life of Jesus.

Week 1

Jesus Session: Week 1 is about the Disciples.

TUTORIAL: Instructions for all the crafts in this unit are found here. Group 2-3 older and younger kids together. older ones should be encouraged to help. 

Art Session: Tissue Fish are fun to make. Have lots of tissue colors available.

Music Session: Introduce Hosanna, He Is Risen.

TIP: hosanna, he is risen can be done any of three ways. If singing on palm Sunday, sing the first verse. If singing on Easter sing the second verse. Or sing both verses for either.

Week 2

Jesus Session: This week we look at one of Jesus’ miracles, the healing of a blind man. He actually healed several blind people, but this one that mentions Jesus spitting and putting mud in the man’s eyes is really interesting. Why do you think Jesus did that??

Art Session: Dual-sided puppet.

Music Session: Work on the words and tune separately. Then bring them together.

Week 3

Jesus Session: This week we look at a miracle of provision, the feeding of the five thousand.

Art Session: Use a whole paper plate for the back of the basket and a half plate for the front. Tape the ends of the yarn for easier threading.

Music Session: Continue working on the song. Concentrate on the verse(s) you will be singing. Talk to the kiddos about singing on stage.

Week 4

Jesus Session: This week, it’s a miracle of comfort. Jesus calmed the storm. Do you think they were actually in trouble? Do you think Jesus would have intervened if the disciples hadn’t asked?

Art Session: Let them get creative with this one.

Music Session: If your kids will be singing next week, send home this reminder this week, if not, send it home next week.

Week 5

Jesus Session: Palm Sunday.

Art Session: This craft is sort of tricky, but boy does it turn out nice.

The video tutorial linked below is really the best way to figure out this craft. Warning – you may have to watch it and practice several times before teaching it! If you have access to palm branches, great, otherwise, green construction paper – like I used – works well.

Music Session: If you’re singing this week, have fun! If next week, keep working on the song. Show them how to line up and where they will stand.

Week 6

Jesus Session: Easter. God loves us so much he sent Jesus to die for us. And he’s so powerful he could raise himself from the dead. That’s the kind of God I want to worship!

Art Session: Scrapbook paper, gift wrap, even fabric could work for this.

Music Session: Have fun singing!

TIP: If you already sang earlier in the unit, have a dance party!
