HI, I’m Brenda.

Hi. I’m Brenda, KidMin Choir Curriculum creator and owner of Little JAM Sessions. (Learn more about our curriculum on our About Page.) Growing up, my faith, singing, and crafts were my favorite things. I graduated with my BA in Church Music with an emphasis in Vocal Performance and a certificate in Christian Education and have been singing and teaching vocal lessons to all ages ever since. I’ve traveled the world singing and remain active in the vocal arts community as a soprano and staff writer for the Santa Clarita Master Chorale.

For the past 15 years, I’ve concentrated on teaching kids. I’ve taught Kindermusik, Gymboree, and Animal Adventures in Music. I’ve built and directed church preschool and elementary school choirs throughout Southern California. I’m now thrilled to be in this new endeavor, a culmination of life experience so far, creating KidMin Choir Curriculum with Little JAM Sessions.

The Inspiration for KidMin Choir Curriculum

Several years ago, I taught a church preschool choir. I was asked to teach them music, do a Bible lesson, and create a craft. While I thought that was great, there was no set curriculum, just a closet of supplies, a box of music, and my Bible. I thoroughly enjoyed creating cohesive lessons that brought the three focuses together. But I wondered how many teachers out there, especially volunteers, might feel a bit overwhelmed. And when I searched around, I discovered that no such curriculum even existed. Staff and volunteers should not have to spend all of their time researching and writing curriculum.

The Why of KidMin Choir Curriculum

This is why I created Little JAM Sessions, a KidMin choir curriculum introducing littles to Jesus, Art, and Music. These are cohesive, themed lessons with a teacher guide, parent blog, take-home activities, original choir music, a suggested music playlist, a suggested book list, and more. I want to empower you – the teacher, the parent to disciple littles beyond memorization and into singing with understanding. I want you to have the tools and resources to effectively teach kids about God’s truths through visual, audio, and kinesthetic methods so littles can fully comprehend the God of their praise.
