Art Session

Flexibility in the Art Session

Crafts are so much more than entertaining messes! The Art Session serves the purpose of adding a learning layer for visual and kinesthetic learners as well as benefitting their hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills.

We realize people feel differently about crafts and have different levels of time, money, and energy available for them, so we have created THREE different crafts for each lesson. Take a look below.

The simplest is a coloring page. Next level is using the coloring page but adding an element. On this one, you color and then add foam hearts. The third level (my favorite!) is an actual craft This one is making a prayer-reminder bookmark using tape, tissue paper, and ribbon.

Why crafts? What’s the purpose of the Art Session?

My absolute favorite reasons for having littles do crafts is that it’s a fantastic tool for the kinesthetic and visual learners. They’ve heard a story. They’ve heard music. The aural learners are all set. But the hands-on and the I’ve-got-to-see-it crews need something more. Of course, there needs to be intention. You must remind the kiddos while they are doing the craft what it’s about, why they’re doing it. And then you need to inform parents so that they can engage with the littles as well.

Crafts are great for fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. But the most important reason for crafts and for including all learning in your KidMin Choir Curriculum Art Session is that it helps each and every child receive and understand the message of God’s love.
