Thessalonians 4:14a For we believe that Jesus died and rose again.

Happy Easter! He is risen; he is risen indeed!

Easter Jesus Session

Sing Hosanna to the King! Palm Sunday
Sing Hosanna to the King! Palm Sunday

Little JAM Sessions preschool ministry curriculum:

Caregiver’s companion guide to Solo JAM Session: Palm Sunday

Matthew 21:9b Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest heaven!

Palm Sunday is the first day of Holy week and, goodness, how quickly things change!

Palm Sunday Jesus Session

In Zechariah 9, it’s prophesied that the king and savior will ride into Jerusalem on a donkey. Palm Sunday fulfills that prophecy. Jesus’ popularity had been growing. People had heard about his miracles. So, when Jesus rides in on a donkey, they think great – now he’ll kill all the Roman soldiers and we’ll no longer be oppressed! Woo! While they celebrated him, they didn’t really understand him, which is why in just a few short days they turn against him. With the benefit of hindsight, we see that him being king and savior was not a political or racial ideology, but an act of love for the entire human race. He offers salvation to each and every one of us.

Palm Sunday Art Session

We make a cute palm branch and remember to celebrate and respect our King of Kings.

Palm Sunday Music Session

We learn and sing about Hosanna, a word of admiration and praise.

We celebrate Jesus’ reign with the following playlist for you.

comfort for preschool kids in crisis

Little JAM Sessions preschool ministry curriculum:

Caregiver’s companion guide to Solo JAM Session: Afraid

Psalm 56:3 When I am afraid, I will trust in you.

Life can be scary. Fires, tornadoes, hurricanes, even school shootings have become more prominent. Our littles need to be reminded that God is with them through every circumstance. We need to remember that sometimes God moves us out of harm’s way, sometimes he brings us through harm, and sometimes he stands with us in the middle of it.

Afraid Jesus Session

Being afraid is normal and healthy. Our body and mind respond to dangerous situations to help us keep safe. Being brave doesn’t mean we’re not afraid, it means we move forward even through fear.

The CDC has some helpful information about children’s responses to natural disasters, including some things to look out for such as:

  • May return to behaviors they have outgrown like bed-wetting.
  • Scared about being separated from their parents/caregivers.
  • Has tantrums or is frustrated.
  • Shows unusual disobedience.
  • Has trouble sleeping.
  • Stays away from others.
  • Not interested in playing.
  • Other helpful information can be found at the Red Cross or Nemours Kids Health.

Afraid Art Session

Art is therapeutic. As we learn about God being with Shadrack, Meshack, and Abednego, we learn about him being with us as well.

Afraid Music Session

Deep breathing is also therapeutic. We did breathing with our music. We breathed in to “when I am afraid” and out to “I will trust in you.”

Music can be comforting, which is why we’ve made the following playlist for you.

Afraid Music Playlist

Here are some videos to help kids who are afraid.
